He is "of counsel" in the area of Criminal Law.

Ángel Juanes is a renowned jurist and magistrate with more than 40 years of experience in the Spanish judiciary.

Graduated in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, since entering the Judicial Career (1978) he has served in different positions, first as a Judge and later as a Magistrate.

He has been a Lawyer of the Constitutional Court during the period 1993 to 1994, president of the Superior Court of Justice of Extremadura (1994-2003), Magistrate of the V Military Chamber of the Supreme Court (2003-2009), president of the National Court among from 2009 to 2014 and, since then, vice president of the Supreme Court, a position in which he held until October 2019.

Ángel Juanes has made his judicial career compatible with teaching. He is currently an Associate Professor of Procedural Law at the Faculty of Law of the Carlos III University of Madrid and Professor of the Master's Degree in International Law at the Higher Institute of Law and Economics (ISDE). He has been a representative of the Spanish judiciary in the World Network of Electoral Justice. He has participated, directed and coordinated numerous courses, seminars and conferences; "He has also published a considerable number of articles and works related to his areas of specialization of Law."
